Research Focus:

This research initiative centers on the robotic handling of pliable materials, with a specific emphasis on carbon fiber textiles utilized in manufacturing applications.

Role Description:

The candidate will be tasked with formulating a robotic control strategy that employs visual feedback mechanisms to autonomously shape carbon fiber fabric into specified configurations.

The research approach will leverage data-centric methodologies and visual servoing techniques to manage material deformation without necessitating intricate object modeling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on the manipulation of deformable materials
  • Devise strategies for the interaction and handling of flexible materials
  • Model the deformation of materials based on manipulation techniques
  • Develop algorithms for visual tracking of deformation utilizing RGB-D cameras
  • Create control methods for visual servoing aimed at deformation management
  • Establish experimental protocols and validate research outcomes
  • Engage in academic seminars and contribute to scientific publications
  • Present findings in the form of a thesis

Required Expertise:

Knowledge:

Strong foundation in control systems, robotics, and computer vision
- Proficient in programming languages such as C++ and Python, along with ROS
- Experience in visual servoing and 3D perception is advantageous
- Familiarity with CAD software
- Proficient in English
